Desperate times…
It is said that desperate times call for desparate measures. If there ever was a time so desperate surely this would be one. This clumsy entry into the blogosphere is not because I’m “into blogging” a “computer geek” or think “it’s cool”. Rather, like an old yokel I have always been skeptical of the merits of blogging and the revolutionary nature of the new medium. Perhaps in a country wired to cyberspace like South Korea this may be true; but in a third world state with third rate connectivty and more than two thirds of the population not knowing the difference between atmosphere and blogosphere (not that i’m an elitist, it’s just how it is) it seems like wishful thinking.
However something is better than nothing and as I said before desperate times, desperate measures. The times in these jolly old isle have probably been ne’er more desperate. Repression is the order of the day. No mainstream journalist with a conscience is safe anymore. The best of them have already been eliminated. Their courage however is not forgotten

and hopefully not in vain. In such a state of affairs where the state monitors all affairs (soon maybe even extra marital affairs) with an eagle eye and those who care fear to speak, and those who can speak either fear to or simply do not care cyberspace appears to be the only viable option for voices of sanity to even attempt to raise their concerns. There are many of them already, but not enough. For even cyberspace has been invaded and stalked by the chimeric spectre of the almighty state and those who raise their voices risk being drowned in the tide of propoganda and apathy. But, maybe, just maybe, if enough people say enough! They might just start listening. If we don’t try we’ll never know.
Therefore with much trepidation I step into the blogosphere to join those lone voices screaming their heads off in the wilderness, realizing that even if no one does hear you in this landscape of apathy atleast you’d know you’ve tried.
